Notice: Change to School Board Policy 7520 — Family and Medical Leave
There has been an important change to School Board Policy 7520 regarding Family and Medical Leave (FMLA). This change will impact the method by which the 12-month period for FMLA eligibility is calculated.
Under the current policy, the 12-month period during which an employee is eligible for FMLA leave is from July 1 to June 30, aligning with the fiscal year. However, with careful consideration and in alignment with best practices, the School Board has approved a modification to this policy.
**Effective July 1, 2024,** the 12-month period during which an employee is eligible for FMLA leave will transition to a method measured forward from the date an employee’s first FMLA leave begins. This change aims to provide greater flexibility and fairness to our staff, allowing FMLA eligibility to be determined on an individual basis rather than within the constraints of a fixed fiscal year.
We understand that changes to policy can raise questions or concerns, and we want to assure you that we are committed to supporting you through this transition. If you have any questions or require clarification regarding this policy amendment, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Yvette Brown or Dr. Rodney McNeill.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We appreciate your continued dedication to the students, families, and community of Greene County Schools.
